Nevada ranks #1 for Traffic Tickets

Las Vegas drivers may want to put the pedal to the metal (the brake metal, that its), in order to avoid unpleasant consequences. According to a recent analysis completed by the National Motorists Association, Nevada ranks number one among the states most likely to issue Traffic Tickets. Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Maryland follow Nevada’s unfavorable lead, according to the association’s rankings.

The motorists’ rights group created the rankings after analyzing ticket-related Google search queries. The association plugged in eight variations of “traffic ticket” into the search tool, said John Bowman, communications director for the National Motorists Association. The results showed how popular any given search term was in a particular location.

This is the second such list released by the association, which began the rankings to distribute information that states and jurisdictions can’t easily collect and compare. Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said the state’s high position doesn’t surprise him given its tourist destinations.

“A lot of drivers are ticketed whether they’re local or tourists because we’re [focused on] keeping people safe,” he stated. Hixson also said that Interstate 15 is a major reason for Nevada’s number 1 ranking because of the thoroughfare’s high volume of traffic.

Wyoming and Montana stayed near the bottom of this year’s list, according to the report.
