How to Get out of a Las Vegas Speeding Ticket

How to Get out of a Las Vegas Speeding Ticket Metro police officers and the Nevada Highway Patrol have heard it all… “I’m late for a funeral.” “My child is in the hospital.” “I didn’t see the posted sign because I just got on the highway.” “I have to use the bathroom really bad. I’m on my period.” Even if your reason for speeding is legitimate (your wife is in the back seat about to give birth,) officers reserve the right to ticket you anyway because, plain and simple, you broke the law. We’ve all heard stories of unforgiving officers with no sympathy for the very real & urgent problems we are facing when they pull us over for speeding. But we can’t always blame the officers; for every truth they’re told by an apologetic speeder, they’re also told 29,847 lies by other drivers looking to get off the hook. On a personal note, I recently purchased a new car. Its color? Brilliant Red. Before making this purchase, many people warned me, “you’re going to get pulled over all the time in that thing.” “Red sticks out like a sore thumb.” “That’s the worst color you could buy.” I was warned against this purchase with so much passion, I actually considered ditching my dream car and buying a car in a more muted tone. The last thing I wanted was a collection of Las Vegas Traffic Tickets and all the fines that came with them. Even when I called my insurance agent to inquire about the cost of coverage for my potential new ride, she took a very long...

Hello Las Vegas Drivers

Hello Las Vegas Drivers! In just under a week, the aptly named “Click It or Ticket” campaign begins yet again to remind those behind the wheel that they MUST buckle up…because their lives depend on it. What caused this campaign to re-surface? Several months ago, a violent three-car collision caused two people to pass away…one of whom was ejected from his vehicle because he was not wearing a seatbelt. Because of this and the increasing number of recent fatalities due to people not following the seat-belt law, Las Vegas Merto Police will now be targeting anyone who fails to buckle-up. But remember this: the seat-belt law is not there to inconvenience you; it’s there to keep you safe. Studies continue to show that an individual is twice as likely to survive a collision if he or she is wearing a seatbelt. It’s simply not worth the risk to go seatbelt-less! And really, how easy is it to pull that strap across your shoulder and chest? You can handle it. Despite the ease of buckling up, Nevada Highway Patrol is aware that people usually don’t follow laws like this until it hits them “in their pocketbooks.” So even though Nevada doesn’t have a primary seatbelt law yet, officers WILL now find a reason to stop you for other violations (so they can write you the secondary seatbelt ticket), especially during the campaign beginning next week and running through the beginning of June. Bottom line: Find some other way to rebel, put your seatbelt on! So if you do decide to not wear your seatblet and receive a Las Vegas Traffic...

Slow Down in the Zone…even if there are no workers in sight

It’s frustrating to hit the brakes in construction zones when no workers are present. But guess what? You will receive a Las Vegas speeding ticket in a construction zone, regardless of whether or not workers are there when you’re speeding. If a cop catches you going above the posted ‘work-zone’ limit, you’re toast! Even more severe is speeding in a construction zone when workers ARE present. If you thought receiving a regular Las Vegas traffic ticket was bad, prepare yourself for double the penalties (up to $1,000), possible  community service, and multiple visits to court. The best thing you can do to avoid receiving a costly Las Vegas speeding ticket is to watch for the posted work-zone limit—which may be far below the regular highway limit. Throughout the year, the Nevada Department of Transportation works to keep drivers and road workers safe using protective barriers, warning signs, lower speed limits, lane closures and flaggers in certain work zones. Watch for all of these signals and barriers, and remember that work zones are not there to inconvenience you; they are necessary to improve the roadway and to safely guide drivers. Construction updates are available by logging onto www.nvroads.com or calling ‘511’ before driving. If you receive a Las Vegas traffic ticket in a construction zone, call the Law Office of Mark Coburn at (702) 382-2000 immediately for your free...

Las Vegas Court Calendar Information

The Clark County Justice Court, the District court and the North Las Vegas Municipal court all have online access to their Las Vegas Court Calendar with the exception of Juvenile court cases which are not accessible on the web site – you must contact the Court directly. Henderson and Las Vegas Municipal courts require that you contact the court for information on cases and do not have links to Court Calendar information. Certain information is required in order to look up cases on line, for example to find Las Vegas Court Calendar information from The City of North Las Vegas you would need to provide the first and last name or the ticket, case or drivers license number. The Las Vegas Justice court allows you to search by defendant or attorney name, and allows you to narrow the search by court, case type, and department. There is also an option at the end of The Las Vegas Justice court that allows you to check all Justice courts in Clark County. If you have an attorney however they can check Las Vegas Court Calendar for any dates that may apply to your case. It will provide information on the time and location of hearings and the judge assigned to the court. It is important to remember depending on the court, your first appearance may only be to meet with the court’s clerk to schedule your official trial date. Then you must re-appear at a later date for your trial. So the defendant or their attorney needs to monitor the Las Vegas Court Calendar to keep up with trial dates once...

The Importance of Court Dates

Each and every day, people all over the country are notified of a pending court date. While most people understand what a court date is, a lot of people don’t realize the importance of these court dates. It’s sad, because there are real, and potentially serious, consequences when a court date is missed. This is why it’s important that you take your Las Vegas court date seriously. It doesn’t matter what your Las Vegas court date is regarding, you have a responsibility to be there or to have an attorney present for you. Depending on the type of case you have, there are different consequences. For example, if you are the plaintiff filing a small claims case against another party with the intent of recouping money or other damages and fail to show up for the scheduled court date, your case could be dismissed. This means that you forfeit your right to potentially get your money back. However, if you are the defendant in a small claims case and don’t show up for court, you risk the chance of the judge ruling in the plaintiff’s favor – which means you will have to abide by the judge’s ruling without being able to argue your side of the story. If you happen to miss your Las Vegas court date for a traffic ticket, there are even harder consequences you may have to face. For example, your license may be suspended and a warrant may be issued for your arrest. You could also be slapped with a variety of different fines and, depending on your record, you could even face a jail sentence!...

Don’t Let a Traffic Ticket Ruin Your Day

Nothing ruins a day faster than seeing those red and blue lights in your rear view mirror as you are driving down the road. The only thing worse than being pulled over and receiving a ticket, is the time and energy spent dealing with the ticket as time goes by. You have the option to pay the ticket, fight the ticket in court, or hire a lawyer to deal with the court process. It can be a headache no matter how you choose to deal with it. To make the process easier, Las Vegas Traffic Ticket Attorney is available to send a lawyer to represent you in court, get your fines reduced or eliminated, and keep you from having to waste time in traffic school or court. Because the population of Las Vegas is always changing with tourists coming and going, officers in the area know that in many cases, individuals that receive a ticket will likely just pay it, because they are from out of town and going to court is not an option. This means that an officer can get away with citing a flimsy offense as cause for a ticket, because they will probably not have to worry about the ticketed individual fighting it. Therefore, they can meet their quota of tickets for the month without having to try too hard. However, with Las Vegas Traffic Ticket Attorney, you can have a representative in court for you; someone to make sure that you get the fairest treatment in the court system possible. Las Vegas Traffic Ticket Attorney has had lots of success fighting traffic tickets, DUIs, and removing...
