Henderson Police make multiple DUI arrests

Henderson Police make multiple DUI arrests This past month, during a two week period ending on September 7th, Henderson police arrested eight drivers on DUI Charges; as well, they issued over 80 speeding tickets, 15 citations for texting while driving, and numerous other tickets including those issued to drivers with no insurance, expired registration, and suspended or expired licenses. This influx in tickets was largely due to a recent enforcement effort targeting drunk drivers in the Las Vegas area. You may have already heard the stats, but that does not make them any less shocking; last year alone, almost 300 people were killed in motor vehicles in Nevada alone. Alcohol was a contributing factor in a large portion of those deaths, according to the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety. In 2014, so far, almost 200 people have been killed in motor vehicle accidents. These numbers are disheartening. DUI Charges in Las Vegas are not to taken lightly. If you have been charged with such a case, we strongly suggest you consider hiring a qualified DUI Attorney to assist you with your DUI Case. Attorney Mark Coburn has the knowledge, and experience to ensure that you receive the highest possible legal representation. Call us today at (702) 382-2000 for a Free Consultation.  ...

Dangerous Domestic Violence Altercations

Dangerous Domestic Violence Altercations An unfortunate trend is hitting the Valley. Police are labeling this trend: “dangerous domestic violence altercations”, and the problem has grabbed the attention of the Las Vegas population. One such offender, Troy White, turned himself in to Metro after being named suspect in his wife’s death earlier that afternoon. He is being held in custody and questioned by authorities. His wife was shot in the chest near her home near Alta and Buffalo… while her five children listened on– in the house at the time of the shooting. In another morbid case, detectives named Alburto Gutierez as a suspect in the brutal stabbing death of his wife. Once again, the children were just several feet away from the murder as it took place in the couple’s Las Vegas home. There is also Mario Alejandro Lopez, currently jailed for stabbing his ex-wife and their son. The son has since recovered, however, his ex-wife is still in critical condition at University Medical Center. Each of these cases occurred in the past month, and each is accompanied by another disturbing trend. The Shade Tree Shelter has been busier than ever as victims of domestic abuse continue to line up at the door. Just in the past three months, there have been 1,500 new clients– mostly women and children seeking refuge from terribly abusive relationships at home. The Executive Director of the Shade Tree Shelter, Marlene Richter, states that, “Nevada is number one in homicide rates for spouses killing their wives.  It’s up to us to turn that statistics upside down.  Children and families are at stake.  Everyone needs...

Gun Belts and Hip Holsters Vegas is Still the Wild West

All over our country there are new Laws being put into the books everyday. Chances are the average American wouldn’t be able to tell you if the gun laws in Washington D.C. were the same or different from gun laws in California or even how Las Vegas Gun Laws differed from the other two. In many cases if it doesn’t interest a person then they have no need or desire to look up what they consider irrelevant information. The old saying “Ignorance is Bliss.” can get you in loads of trouble when it entails carrying a gun from place to place. If you own a gun, it is in your best interest to know the gun laws of the city/state that you are carrying it in. Las Vegas Gun Laws are very specific. Unless you have taken the time to review the laws before you get there you might find yourself in a bit of a quandary. Yes, you can carry concealed as long as you have a permit issued in Nevada (there are a few states that offer reciprocity but the list is short and always changing). Just like the Old West you can still strap on a gun belt and holster and let the whole world see that you are carrying your handgun. It’s legal, As long as you have the blue card the sheriff issued that goes to the gun, nothing is concealing it from any one’s view, you are not in a government building, you have never been convicted of a felony, or stalking, or domestic violence etc. As you can see there are a few paragraphs...
